Millions of Christians Back Constitutional Amendment Bill.3, says Rev. Dr. Musindo

Millions of Christians Back Amendment Bill, says Rev. Dr. Musindo

Staff Reporter

The political landscape of Zimbabwe is witnessing a seismic shift as religious organizations move from the periphery of power to the heart of the State House. According to Rev. Dr. Obedia Musindo, Founder and President of the Destiny of Afrika Network, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has cultivated a “deeper relation” with the clergy that contrasts sharply with the previous administration.

From Criticism to Communion

Dr. Musindo points out that while the previous “RG” administration often attacked church leaders, President Mnangagwa has adopted a policy of radical inclusion. The State House doors have been thrown open to Apostolic sects (Masowe), Zionists, Pentecostals, and Mainline churches.

“The President has established good working relations with prophetic movements,” Musindo explains. “You see him with Uebert Angel, Prophet Eddy Branson, and visiting Prophet Makandiwa’s church—something never seen before. Even those who were once anti-government are now knocking on the door of the State House.”

This outreach extends to the highest levels of spiritual seniority, with Dr. Musindo noting that even respected elders like Mai Eunice Guti have engaged with the President, signaling a broad-based “love for the leader” across generations.

The “Magunanzi” Economy: Cars, Ambulances, and Empowerment
The support for the President is not merely spiritual; it is deeply practical. Dr. Musindo attributes much of Mnangagwa’s popularity to “Magunanzi”—the nickname for high-impact developmental projects and financial mobilization.

  • Elite Patronage: Key figures and Presidential appointees like Kuda Tagwirei, Dr. Tungwarara, and Sir Wicknell Chivayo are identified as spearheading the President’s vision.
  • The “Car” Revolution: “Long ago, fancy cars were for a few,” Musindo notes, “but today, church leaders own luxurious vehicles because of the President.” These donations are often handled privately, reflecting a leader who “is not after fame.”
  • Social Infrastructure: Beyond luxury, millions of dollars have been raised for church hospitals and schools. In Matabeleland, the President recently donated ambulances and funds for community health.
The Power of the Pews: Women and Youth
A massive engine behind this support is the ZANU-PF Women’s League, whose members are also the backbone of church congregations. Dr. Musindo highlights an “unpronounced women’s league” within the churches that is driving the “Mnangagwa Huchi” (Mnangagwa is honey) sentiment.
“Young Christian women and youth across all denominations are questing to see the President. They see their leaders being empowered and they want that same extension of grace for their own ministries and businesses,” says Musindo.

The 4-Million-Christian Mandate for Amendment Bill No. 3
This wave of material and spiritual support has translated into a solid political mandate for Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3. Dr. Musindo argues that extending the President’s term is a natural desire for those enjoying the fruits of his leadership.

“He is loved by so many people in the church. I am saying things that i have technically proved. So extending his term shouldn’t be an issue. Most churches leaders want to see good things received by others also being extended to them. They want to see their youths and women getting empowered.

President Mnangagwa never closed the door against the Church. So then the President has also generated hope among Christians. The young Christians women movement in across all their denominations are questioning to see the President. The youths are questing to see the President. Because of his practical financial support has raised millions of dollars in support of many churches. This is why most Christians are in support of President Ed Mnangagwa.”
