Comprising 54 recognized nations and divided into five regions—North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, West Africa, and Central Africa—the continent is a powerhouse in its own right, one that is gradually becoming a global leader in many sectors.
A Continent of Diversity and Rich Heritage
Africa’s diversity is one of its greatest assets. The continent is a melting pot of over 3,000 ethnic groups, each with its own history, traditions, and languages. More than 2,000 languages are spoken, making Africa the world’s linguistic heart. From the ancient cultures of Egypt and Ethiopia to the dynamic, contemporary societies of cities like Lagos, Nairobi, and Johannesburg, Africa’s cultural wealth is unparalleled.
Beyond the material richness of its land, Africa offers a unique, deeply-rooted sense of community and solidarity, with its customs, music, art, and festivals continuing to inspire and connect people across the globe.
