A Kenyan man, Joshua Moseti Nyamweya, has made startling claims that he is being harassed by his wife’s ex-boyfriend.According to Joshua, he married a Zimbabwean woman, Tariro Mukuze, after meeting her during his stay in Zimbabwe.
However, he alleges that her former partner has not accepted their relationship.“I was taken aback a few days after I started seeing Tariro. I began receiving calls from an unidentified man who vowed to make my life miserable,” he said.“Initially, I did not take the threats seriously. I dismissed them as acts of jealousy.”
Matters allegedly escalated during their honeymoon on the night of 7 September the day they wedded.“We spent the day enjoying ourselves at a beautiful venue, but when we returned to our booked room, we were shocked to find the door slightly open despite having locked it,” he said.“I asked the staff if anyone had entered, but they were equally surprised.
To our shock, we found a note with our names scribbled on it. We immediately requested another room.”Joshua further claimed that his fiancée suspects her ex-boyfriend,whom she alleges works for Zimbabwe’s intelligence services may be behind the intimidation.
Fearing for their safety, Joshua returned to Kenya the next day.”I became terrified and quickly booked a flight back home the following day,”he said.
However, he says the threats have continued.“I thought we would be safer back home, but the threats and intimidation have persisted. I have tried reporting the matter to the police, but nothing has come of it,” he said.“Our last option may be to relocate again, possibly to a safer country in Europe where citizens’ protection is taken seriously.
