Destiny for Afrika Network founder and president Rev. Obedia Musindo has issued a clarion call for Zimbabweans to rethink, reconsider, and reposition themselves in the country’s political and economic landscape. He is calling on all Zimbabweans to be united, focused on national development, viable income-generating projects, and building their families by buying residential stands and building a family home and establishing steady financial income rather than spending time on unprofitable and negative activities. Rev. Musindo said people must understand the exhortation by President Ed Mnangagwa when he says ‘stone upon stone, brick by brick,’ and this means start small and grow your business. He quoted biblical words from Zachariah Chapter 4 vs. 10, which reads, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work beginning.” If you are climbing the ladder of success, you need to be steadfast and go step by step in climbing upwards. You can’t afford to be careless and try to jump from the lower level of the ladder to the highest level of the same ladder. You will certainly fall, and in some cases you will actually break your back or your legs.
Rev. Musindo warned the young people not to be overambitious and to try and cheat principles of success. You don’t just wake up and be rich. You don’t just wake up and be on top; as young people, you must learn to sacrifice and not to be tempted by the spirit of wanting to compete with those who have been working hard for the past 20, 30, or 40 years. Chiyangwa came from afar, Strive Masiwa came from afar, and James Manyika was born here in Zimbabwe, but today he is now the vice president of Google. If you look at Econet Group CEO Douglas Mbowweni, he joined Econet way before they were given an operational license. He stood with Strive Masiwa through thick and thin. Obey Chimuka, if you check his background, shows that he came from a long way. Our president went through dangerous trials; he fought many battles and faced life-threatening situations. He is not where he is through walking in the comfortable and romantic walk in the park.
Rev Musindo said the youths must stop sowing seeds of division and being used by selfish politicians like Geza and G40 kingpins who are busy pushing for their political agendas and interests, which have nothing to do with the aspirations and dreams of our young people. He encouraged youths not to be hotspotted in hating the president and be mobilized to remove a God-ordained and anointed constitutionally elected president. He encouraged everyone to also respect the vice presidents who were appointed by the constitutionally elected president and all those who work with the Presidium, and in our culture it’s mandatory to respect elders. He urged people to respect each other, especially those in authority running churches, communities, traditional leaders, and our political government leaders. Even Chamisa must learn to speak to the president with respect and honor. He added that any young person aspiring to occupy high offices tomorrow must learn to be humble, submissive, and respectful of current leadership so that they receive the blessings. He said even David in the Bible killed the guy who killed King Saul, saying, “Thou shalt not touch the anointed one of God.”
When G40 started their public rallies where they were openly decampaigning and demonizing President Ed Mnangagwa, our current president did not angrily respond; he remained calm in the presence of all these political attacks, and God honored him, and today he is the president. If you check again the history of President Ed Mnangagwa with Mugabe, ED served the late president with all his heart, and he was faithful, and he did everything to protect the late President Robert Mugabe right from the days they were in Mozambique. In an interview with the media this Tuesday in Harare, Rev. Musindo said it is time for the nation to move away from perpetual political campaigns and unnecessary fights for positions and focus on the development and economic prosperity of our country. He said young people must work hard in exploiting business opportunities that can enable them to make money for themselves rather than focusing on cheap politics, spending time peddling political falsehoods on social media, sexual immorality, drinking, and taking drugs. He added that the youths must always be sober-minded..
He urged them to pursue money-making opportunities in a legitimate way, rather than pursuing leisure and beer.
He gave an example of how successful business gurus like Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Scott Sakupwanya, Strive Masiwa, Shingi Mutasa, and many others made it from humble beginnings. He said even Wicknell Chivayo worked hard to be where he is today, and those who are just accusing him and demonizing him must know that this guy came a long way. He added that Zimbabweans are just good at pointing at the logs in the eyes of others without dealing with their own logs.
He reiterated that most of these businesspeople who are being accused of corruption and being attacked left, right, and center are being punished because of their support for the president and the government. He said no one is holy, but most people who comment about Dr. Tungwarara, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, and Dr. John Mangudya is doing so out of hearsay and complete ignorance of these individuals. You talk about this Tagwirei you see today. Do you know how many battles he went through to where he is? You must know that he traveled a long journey.
Below is the full interview text by Rev Musindo
“People like Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Scott Sakupwanya, Strive Masiiwa, Shingi Mutasa, and many others that you may know as millionaires and billionaires have been working hard for many years silently. Many years ago, people did not know about Kudakwashe Tagwirei, but he was working hard silently and worked in the financial sector at the RBZ. He resigned and ventured into a poultry project together with his wife, Sandra Tagwirei, using his own resources. He started renting chicken runs at a certain plot in Harare South. From there, he further ventured into the fuel industry. He then started growing bigger in the fuel business. One thing that young people should learn from him is that he is self-disciplined, self-determined, and hardworking. This was further shaped by his personality as a Christian believer who was always dedicated to prayer and church. He didn’t prioritize luxury spending by then. So the Kudakwashe Tagwirei that we now know, whom other people are criticizing and accusing of all sorts of bad things, came a long way.”
“He humbled himself when his business became big under Sakunda. People must all know that Sakunda means Sandra and Kuda. Sandra is his Kuda’s wife, and she is the biggest partner, and she is such a humble and generous giver. She loves the church and always serves God through the SDA Church. He started attracting investors, and banks started funding him, and then the government noticed him because he was providing fuel solutions to the nation. Kuda Tagwirei is a gifted and competent entrepreneur; working together with the government, he managed to solve the fuel crisis in Zimbabwe. During the First Republic, he supported the government and even funded the presidential scholarship programs by helping students who were stuck in different countries. He assisted the government, under the leadership of the former president, R. G. Mugabe, and the currentt, E. D. Mnangagwa, in fighting sanctions, and this is one of the major reasons why he was placed under sanctions by those who want regime change in Zimbabwe. Moreover, many businesspeople didn’t want to work with the government in the First and Second Republics, but Kuda Tagwirei seized the opportunities, took the risk, and sacrificed a lot. Many business people later realized that Kudakwashe Tagwirei had made it, and instead of applauding him for his business intelligence, foresight, insight, and shrewdness, they started demonizing him and calling him all sorts of names. At one point when he became sick after getting poisoned, he went into a coma for a long time. Many other people, both politicians and businesspeople, including anti-Zimbabwe foreign forces, were celebrating, but God, being a merciful and gracious God, miraculously healed him. Kuda Tagwirei was also instrumental and part of a team that worked tirelessly to usher in the Second Republic, and it was very dangerous for him and his family to take such a huge risk. He worked closely with current Vice President Chiwenga, the late General SB Moyo, Perence Shiri, and many others who are now occupying key positions in ushering in the Second Republic under the leadership of our President ED Mnangagwa. There are many things that Kuda Tagwirei did for this country outside the public domain.
Most young people are not aware of the fact that Kuda Tagwirei came a long way to be where he is today. All they do is just ignorantly criticize him for no apparent reason. When others were busy calling for more sanctions to be imposed on Zimbabwe, Kuda was busy and secretly building his business empires, and he supported the government and the president. He is one humble person who always respects the government leadership despite all his successful business endeavors. These are the things our young people of Zimbabwe should emulate in realizing their goals. Working against the president, vice presidents, and his cabinet doesn’t help anyone in any way. Confrontation and a combative attitude against those in authority will destroy many young people. You lose nothing in being humble and respectful.
Ministers, relevant authorities, and government departments were put in place to assist and serve the people of Zimbabwe. Don’t fight the leaders but engage them. So the young people must seek guidance in order to implement their business enterprises.
I am encouraging young people to seek an audience with the president, government ministers, and party leadership for support, guidance, and any possible ventures. They must approach leadership with humility, wisdom, and maturity. Arrogance, pride, antagonizing, and disrespecting leadership will take them nowhere. Youths must avoid imitating the likes of Geza and the G40, who think they can out-pressure and intimidate our fearless and bold leader, President Ed Mnangagwa. It won’t work, and quoting President Ed Mnangagwa asked, “When you look at me, who do you think can put pressure on me?”
Instead of learning how to run successful business enterprises, they start playing malicious games, soiling images of successful people, and denigrating leadership. Some of our young people have adopted an extortionist approach and are using intimidatory tactics, and this kind of behavior will not help them to successfully climb the ladder. The young people in politics must be mentored and nurtured by our political fathers. Imagine President ED Mnangagwa only managed to take power from RG Mugabe after many decades of humbly serving under him. Rev. Musindo said that for Joshua to enter Canaan, he needed Moses; Moses needed Aaron; Elisha needed Elijah; Jesus needed John the Baptist; and Peter and John needed Jesus, and they were mentored by our Lord Jesus Christ himself.
“I want to encourage all young anointed pastors in churches, young people in politics and in business, and all aspiring politicians to seek mentorship, discipleship, and apprenticeship; otherwise, they will make fundamental and costly mistakes that will destroy their careers and dreams. My encouragement to young people is to stop dividing leadership, promoting a culture of hatred, careless talk, and animosity. I want to say to those in politics that President ED Mnangagwa and Vice President Chiwenga are in office, and they are playing their part, drinking tea together. Right now, VP Chiwenga is the acting president while President ED Mnangagwa is in Russia, and you are busy wishing and seeing imaginary illusion wars, busy hallucinating and seeing some visions and dreams coming from false gods. . Instead of you spending energy and time on income-generating projects, creating a business enterprise, running your trading, ordering vegetables, and selling, you’re busy wasting your internet data on things that will never materialize. This is what we call madness and the highest level of insanity.”
The best you can do right now is to stop baseless criticism and baseless mere talking and start doing something that can give you money. Zimbabwe has billions of opportunities for young people to make money. Look at those Nigerians, Ugandans, Somalians, Cameroonians, Congolese, and others who are making money here in Zimbabwe, and our beautiful girls are being taken by them because they have money generated in our own country. Even non-English-speaking Chinese are coming in and making money while someone is busy criticizing the government with good English. Why attack President Mnangagwa as if he is responsible for your generational curses of poverty?
“Proverbs 14:23 says mere talk will lead to poverty, and all hard work brings a profit. Focusing on social media and talking a lot in different social groups will lead to a serious lack of finances, and you will experience financial hardships. Let those with ears hear, and let those with eyes see, because Jesus said in Mark 8:18, “They have ears, but they do not hear, and they have eyes, but they do not see.”
Nigel Chanakira, the founder of Kingdom Bank, used to say making money makes sense. Hating and unnecessarily criticizing the President on social media and tweeting what you think is wisdom will not pay your bills, and those who are silently working and getting goats and participating in youth empowerment programs will be rich by 2030. Those who spend a lot of time talking about things that they do not understand and know will be poor.
