Dr. Mupambi Blasts Masaraure and Ngarivhume Over Linda Masarira’s Death Remarks

By Staff Correspondent

A political firestorm has erupted following a scathing public statement by Dr. Abigale Mupambi, who fiercely condemned opposition figures Obert Masaraure and Jacob Ngarivhume. In an unfiltered address, Mupambi slammed the duo for what she described as cowardly and celebratory reactions to the passing of prominent politician and activist Linda Masarira. Representing the outrage of many women in the political arena, Mupambi declared that they would not be intimidated by individuals she characterized as lost, confused, and profoundly weak.

Mupambi took aim directly at Masaraure, the leader of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), questioning his leadership credentials and integrity. She sharply asked whether rural educators could honestly expect a salary increase now that he had successfully led an online procession celebrating Masarira’s death. Accusing Masaraure of exploiting teachers’ funds while failing to deliver tangible results, Mupambi challenged him to reveal his next promise to his constituency after launching such an offensive attack on a “sleeping giant.”

Turning her focus to Ngarivhume, the leader of Transform Zimbabwe, Mupambi mockingly questioned the future of his party. She asked if he believed he could finally build political structures without facing a viable competitor now that Masarira was gone. In contrast to their behavior, she lauded other prominent opposition figures—including Douglas Mwonzora, Lovemore Madhuku, Ibbo Mandaza, Job Sikhala, and Nelson Chamisa—for maintaining maturity, decency, and respect despite their political differences with the late activist.

Mupambi warned Masaraure and Ngarivhume that their actions would not be forgotten. She accused them of relying on foreign training and waiting for tragedies to gain relevance, rather than doing actual work for the citizens. Mupambi firmly asserted that Linda Masarira had consistently stepped up to fill the gaps left by failing leaders, leaving behind a legacy that her detractors could never diminish.
