Tatenda Mapuranga, Chief Executive Officer of Matiff Corporate Gifts, has been nominated for the prestigious Corporate Excellence Awards in recognition of outstanding leadership in Zimbabwe’s corporate sector. The awards ceremony will be held at the historic Meikles Hotel, Hyatt Regency in Harare, and will bring together top executives, government officials, and business leaders from across the country.
Mapuranga’s journey began in Dangamvura, Mutare, where he grew up and attended Dangamvura Primary School before proceeding to St Dominic’s High School, Mutare. He completed his A-Levels at St Dominic’s High School in 2006. Driven by a passion for enterprise, he earned a Bachelor of Science Honours in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Chinhoyi University of Technology in 2012, and later a Diploma in Education with the University of Zimbabwe in 2017. That combination of business training and education experience now shapes his approach to leadership and client service.

Under his leadership, Matiff Corporate Gifts has grown from a local supplier into a leading provider of customized corporate gifts. Operating from Azhari Building at the corner of J Moyo and Mbuya Nehanda in Harare CBD, the company serves clients in government, banking, telecoms, and SMEs. Its product range includes laser-engraved executive pens, branded diaries, and bespoke gift hampers designed to reflect each client’s brand identity.
“Gifting is not just about giving,” Mapuranga said. “It’s about brand storytelling. Every pen, every diary, every gift box is a touchpoint between a company and its client or employee.” He added that many companies invest heavily in marketing but overlook the impact of well-chosen corporate gifts. “We help them flip that – make the gift itself part of the marketing.”
Industry observers attribute Matiff’s growth to its focus on customization, fast delivery, and use of quality materials sourced where possible from local suppliers. This approach aligns with national economic goals under Vision 2030 and has positioned the company as a strategic partner for brands seeking to strengthen client relationships and staff morale.
Speaking on his nomination, Mapuranga shared: “I feel overwhelmed and emotional and I am at a loss for words, this is a very special moment in my life. It already felt like a win when I found out that I am even being considered for this honorary award ”
The Corporate Excellence Awards nomination highlights Mapuranga’s contribution to elevating Zimbabwean businesses through purpose-driven branding solutions. Matiff Corporate Gifts invites businesses looking to enhance their brand presence to visit its showroom at Azhari Building, corner J Moyo and Mbuya Nehanda, Harare CBD, for samples, consultations, and bulk orders.
