As Zimbabwe continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible citizenship, NetOne has answered the call by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, to participate in clean-up campaigns held every first Friday of the month, reaffirming its commitment to building cleaner, healthier and more sustainable communities across the country.
The initiative forms part of NetOne’s broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments, particularly its focus on environmental stewardship, stakeholder engagement and community development.
As the organisation celebrates NetOne @30, the monthly clean-up campaigns provide an opportunity to reflect on three decades of connecting Zimbabweans while strengthening the communities in which the organisation operates.
In Gokwe, NetOne partnered with the Gokwe Town Council, bringing together employees and local stakeholders in a coordinated effort to improve public spaces and promote responsible waste management.
The partnership demonstrates the value of collaboration between corporates and local authorities in advancing sustainable community development.
In Bulawayo, NetOne partnered with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and the Council of Churches, reinforcing the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in promoting environmental consciousness and community participation.
The initiative brought together stakeholders united by a shared responsibility to protect the environment and create cleaner spaces for communities.
In Masvingo, NetOne partnered with Don Bosco Primary School, bringing together employees and the school community in a collaborative effort to promote environmental responsibility and maintain clean, healthy learning spaces.
The partnership underscores the importance of engaging educational institutions in fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and empowering communities to take collective responsibility for their surroundings.
The campaigns further demonstrate NetOne’s commitment to ESG principles by translating environmental responsibility into tangible action. Through employee participation, stakeholder partnerships and community mobilisation, the organisation continues to contribute towards improved environmental management while encouraging citizens to take collective responsibility for the spaces they occupy.
Speaking on the initiative, NetOne Spokesperson, Mr. Ernest Magadzire, said the organisation’s environmental responsibility is an important extension of its mandate to connect people and communities.
“As NetOne celebrates 30 years of connecting Zimbabwe, we recognise that meaningful connectivity extends beyond telecommunications. It is also about connecting communities to a shared responsibility for the environment in which we live and work. By answering the call to participate in monthly clean-up campaigns, we are turning our ESG commitments into action while working alongside local authorities, environmental partners, churches and communities to create cleaner and healthier spaces for all.”
As NetOne marks 30 years of connecting Zimbabwe, the organisation remains committed to ensuring that its contribution to national development extends beyond digital connectivity. Through its ESG agenda, NetOne continues to promote environmental stewardship, meaningful stakeholder relations, community participation and responsible corporate citizenship.
The monthly clean-up campaigns are a reflection of this commitment — demonstrating that sustainable development is a shared responsibility requiring collective action. By working with communities and strategic partners across Zimbabwe, NetOne continues to connect people, connect communities and connect Zimbabwe to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
