SAPS Limpopo Delivers Blow to Crime,
POLOKWANE, LIMPOPO – The South African Police Service (SAPS) Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad has achieved significant success in curbing criminal activities, announcing the arrest of three suspects in separate operations conducted between early Thursday, July 17th, and Friday, July 18th.
These arrests, alongside a tragic murder investigation, highlight both the proactive efforts of law enforcement and the ongoing challenges faced by communities in the province.
In a targeted operation in the Mankweng policing area, the Flying Squad apprehended a 31-year-old suspect in Ga-Makanye. The individual faces charges of pointing a firearm and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Following this, in Mentz Village, a 28-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and dealing in dagga.
Further amplifying their efforts, the Provincial Flying Squad, working in conjunction with Provincial Detectives, operationalized intelligence regarding a drug dealer in the Nebo policing area.
This led to the arrest of a 42-year-old male on charges of dealing in dagga, with an additional charge of bribery being added. All three suspects are expected to appear before the Mankweng and Nebo Magistrate’s Courts on Monday, July 21st.
However, the week also saw a devastating incident in Juju Valley, Seshego, where a 6-year-old boy tragically lost his life on Friday, July 18th, around 11:45 AM. The young victim was playing outside a residence when he was fatally struck by a stray bullet. The circumstances surrounding this horrific incident are under investigation, and a case of murder has been opened at the Seshego Police Station.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, has expressed her condolences and issued a heartfelt plea to the community for assistance in the murder investigation.
