Stop the Name-Dropping: Youth League Moves to Strip Paul Tungwarara of His ‘Presidential Advisor’ Shield

ZANU PF Youth League Demands ‘Repair Rally’ as Rifts Grow Over Presidential Advisor’s Nyanga Conduct

The internal stability of ZANU PF has come under fresh scrutiny following a scathing public critique from the party’s Deputy National Youth Commissar, Taurai Kandishaya. In a direct challenge to the party’s hierarchy, Kandishaya has called for the immediate re-education and potential demotion of Paul Tungwarara, the Presidential Investment Advisor to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), accusing him of “Selous Scout” tactics and causing “confusion and disruption” within the revolutionary movement.

The friction ignited following a recent ZANU PF rally in Nyanga, where Tungwarara allegedly overstepped his diplomatic mandate. Kandishaya, speaking in his capacity as a Youth Commissar, questioned why an advisor appointed specifically for UAE investment matters was attempting to “wield internal power” in Manicaland.

“Is Manicaland part of the UAE?” Kandishaya asked rhetorically, suggesting that Tungwarara’s actions at the rally were more about “clout farming” and “name-dropping” than genuine party recruitment.

A particularly explosive allegation involved Blessed Geza, a former Central Committee member known for his outspoken criticism. Tungwarara reportedly claimed to have “mastered and neutralized” Geza, a boast that Kandishaya labeled as a deceptive “middleman’s agenda.”

The Youth League leader warned that such behavior mirrors the divisive operations of the colonial-era Selous Scouts, designed to create friction rather than unity behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s empowerment vision. In response to the perceived damage, Kandishaya has issued three high-stakes recommendations to the party leadership:

* The immediate enrollment of Paul Tungwarara into the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology to align him with party principles.

* The organization of a “Repair Rally” in Nyanga to reassure loyal members who may have been alienated by recent conduct.

* The relinquishment of Tungwarara’s “Advisor” title so that he can be engaged by politicians without the shield of the Presidency.

As the 2026 political season intensifies, these demands signal a growing intolerance within the Youth League for officials who use their proximity to the “First Office” for personal political leverage.
