The Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ), a leading alliance of women’s rights organizations and activists, expressed their delight at this “milestone” development, with Executive Director Muchanyara Mukamuri delivering a powerful address at the event.
Zimbabwe is currently playing host to a pivotal gathering of Senior Officials from SADC Member States for the 43rd Joint Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Energy and Water.
Professor Obert Jiri, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Fisheries highlighted the region’s heavy reliance on hydropower, making the energy-water nexus unavoidable. “Most of our energy is derived from hydropower. So the link between energy and water is inevitable,” he stated.
