As arts industry continues to take centre stage in proferring solutions in today’s world the sector has grown beyond ordinary human expectations. Amid all this young women are standing tall in revealing their strength towards the growth of Arts Industry in Zimbabwe.
An Arts Exhibition held recently in Harare at Germany Society, hosted by Chengetedza Arts Association with the support of Embassy of Switzerland female exhibitors converging at Germany Society in what onlookers described as masterpiece exhibition night.
Among the key note attendees was the popular music artist Gemma Griffiths in a gesture of showing solidarity with peers in the arts industry. Her presence was further complimented with some great performances by a local mbira band bringing the arts exhibition alive.
To the attendees this became an opportune time for upcoming female artists to realize their potential as first timers to make it to the exhibition night.
Molin Katiyo Mayhew Grant Advisor, Founder and Director of Chingeteza Art Association expressed delight in hosting what she described as a resounding exhibition night.
” I can say this was a resounding successful exhibition night. As you can see there were so many activities that took place. This featured both male and female artists. But i am glad to say female participation to the event has been hilarious. Myself i am a visual artist and mixed media. I mainly apply embroidery as i studied fabrics. Most of what i exhibited today came from my fashion designs and art work, ” she said.
Chingeteza Art Association sees the event to have inspired young female artists who are still in the elementary stage of arts exhibition – this translate into a more inclusive and coordinated approach in making sure that everyone comes on board.
