MUTARE — A flood of fresh complaints has erupted in Manicaland following the high-profile arrest of Wilson Masokovere, the former Provincial Manager and dethroned trustee for the Destiny of Afrika Network (DANet). The fallout from a massive US$2 million housing scandal has unraveled, emboldening dozens of duped low-income home-seekers to finally step forward.
Masokovere, alongside his co-accused Temba, is currently held at Mutare Central Police Station pending an initial court appearance. Sources and official representatives from the empowerment network confirm that more than 500 victims—previously silenced by fear of intimidation—are now streaming in to log criminal reports against the ousted executive.

This deceptive strategy left original buyers facing a devastating double loss:
- Forfeiture of Land: Their rightfully allocated residential plots were handed over to cash-paying buyers.
- Financial Ruin: Their hard-earned savings and previous monthly installments were neither credited toward alternative land nor refunded.
Among the newly filed dockets are cases involving Lot 2 stands valued at US$4,500. In one instance, a victim who had deposited US$3,500 toward their plot discovered it had been illegally transferred. Another complainant paid US$3,500 for a similar Lot 2 plot, while a third lost US$2,310 in deposits before realizing the land had been resold out from under them.
Deviating from DANet’s Core Mission
The allegations mark a severe betrayal of the founding principles of Destiny of Afrika Network. Established to bridge the housing gap for low-income earners whose hopes of homeownership were otherwise out of reach, DANet’s official policy prohibits the direct commercial selling of stands for lump-sum profit.
Under standard DANet protocol:
- Membership Model: Residential stands are not sold outright on an open market; allocations are strictly membership-driven.
- Phase Subscriptions: Members commit to manageable, periodic subscriptions structured across distinct developmental phases.
- Verification & Allocation: Subscriptions fund site compliance documents, infrastructure planning, and verification exercises, culminating in the formal, initial allocation of a stand.
Masokovere circumvented this developmental framework entirely, monetizing allocated land for personal enrichment and undermining the network’s empowerment mandate. Following an internal investigation into these systemic irregularities, DANet officially dethroned Masokovere from his position as a trustee.
