Knocked down by Wardley in rounds one and three, Dubois managed to turn things around and stop the Ipswich man in the 11th round following a defiant last stand.
In an interview with DAZN looking back on the first fight, Dubois rated his performance out of 10, and even admitted that he did not train hard for his encounter with Wardley.
“Maybe a four,” Dubois responded when asked to give a rating.
“I was pretty overweight. I didn’t even train that hard for that fight.”
While the build-up to next weekend’s rematch suggests a hint of tension between the pair, Dubois is not letting it get in the way of this thoughts on the first fight.
Asked to rate Wardley’s performance, Dubois praised his opponent and the action they produced inside the ring which has now positioned the world heavyweight title fight as a Fight of the Year contender.
“He did the best he can,” Dubois said.
“All jokes aside, it was a great war, that was a good fight.
“I can’t say enough about that. It was two warriors in there giving the crowd what they wanted.”
